WHO WE ARE

Objective

The object of this society is to facilitate the growth of liver transplantation and allied fields in India by awareness, promotion, education, professional training, establishing professional standards, academic activities, conducting and promoting research and other activities.

Aims:

    1. To establish and encourage highest professional and ethical standards in the practice of liver transplantation in India.
    2. To protect the rights and privileges of the members, solve grievances of members and make rules when deemed necessary relating to conduct, discipline and professional conduct of members.
    3. To interact with the state and central government in formulating laws, rules and policies in the field of liver transplant and allied subjects.
    4. To arrange and conduct scientific meetings, CME programs, trainings, educational courses, examinations and to grant orations, awards, certificates, prizes, fellowships, scholarships, stipends, remuneration to students, members and scholars to undertake training and research in the field of liver transplantation and allied subjects.
    5. To disseminate knowledge and updates, provide authoritative advice, information and opinion and create awareness about liver transplant and allied subjects to other professional organizations, governments, patients and public.
    6. To print, publish, distribute or sell books, pamphlets, pictures, periodicals, bulletins, journals, newspapers or magazines or any material in print or electronic form such as websites, email or social media or any other material about liver transplantation and allied subjects.
    7. To establish and maintain print and electronic reference libraries of books, journals, periodicals, magazines, newspapers, audio-visual materials, etc. related to liver transplantation and allied subjects.
    8. To facilitate or aid other individuals or organizations involved in the promotion of liver transplantation and allied subjects.
    9. To encourage and advance research, study and practice of science and art of liver transplant surgery, transplant hepatology, liver anesthesia and critical care and other allied specialties such as transplant pathology, diagnostic and interventional radiology, organ donation, infection, immunosuppression, etc. and provide training, research and fellowship opportunities in collaboration with various centers.
    10. To facilitate new liver transplant centers in India with knowhow, understanding of the legal processes and training opportunities in collaboration with existing centers.
    11. To facilitate interaction amongst students, clinicians, allied professional and scientists involved in liver transplantation and allied subjects regionally, nationally and internationally for exchange of scientific information, promotion of scientific research and experimental work in this field by organizing conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops, continuing medical education programs and other academic programs.
    12. To collaborate with national and international governments, semi-government institutions, universities, non-government organizations, societies, health agencies, patient support groups and relevant public and private entities, patients and other individuals to facilitate improvements and innovations in surgical techniques, clinical applications, drugs, consumables, instruments and equipment related to liver transplantation and allied subjects and organize or participate in regional, national and international conferences, seminars, symposia, workshops, continuing medical education programs, exhibitions and other programs to promote such innovations.
    13. To establish a national registry for liver transplantation and encourage members to voluntarily update information in the registry.
    14. To facilitate formation and smooth running of patient support groups.
    15. To collaborate with, accept grants, donations, endowments, movable or immovable assets, subscriptions or other income or undertake projects with or without conditions from national and international governments, semi-government institutions, universities, non-government organizations, societies, health agencies, other public and private entities, patient support groups, patients and other individuals for fulfilling the objectives of the society.
    16. The society is authorized to hold funds and to utilize them for fulfilling the objectives of the society.
    17. To do all such things as may be incidental or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the above objectives.
    18. All the income, earning, movable and immovable property of the society shall be solely utilized and applied towards the promotion of the society’s aims and objectives as set forth in the memorandum of the association and no portion thereof shall be paid or transferred directly or indirectly by way of dividends, bonus, profits or in any manner whatsoever to the present or past members of the society or to any person claiming through any one or more of the present or past members of the Society. No member of the society shall have any personal claim on any moveable property of the society or make any profit, whatsoever, by virtue of his/her membership.
