Eligibility and Selection: Qualifications and Application Process
Candidate Requirements:
Applicants must hold a recognized medical degree (as listed in the WHO directory of medical schools).
All candidates must be registered to practice medicine in India. Foreign graduates must maintain registration with the MCI throughout the training.
Candidates should have completed broad-based general surgical training, including:
An MS/DNB in General Surgery; and
At least three years of higher surgical training (e.g., MCh/DNB in GI Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Pediatric Surgery, or equivalent experience as a senior resident or junior faculty with exposure to gastrointestinal/HPB/Transplant Surgery).
Training Exposure:
The fellowship training involves rotations through OPD, ICU, wards, and theatre.
Trainees must experience both DDLT and LDLT, along with pediatric and adult liver transplantation. In centers lacking certain exposure, additional postings (within India or abroad) are required.
External posting at another accredited center for 2 weeks (or at an agreed international center)
Academic Requirements:
Fellows must participate in academic activities (seminars, journal clubs, case presentations) and maintain a comprehensive (or electronic) logbook of clinical and academic activities.
Examination Fee:
Candidates are required to pay Rs. 20,000 to LTSI for the Exit Examination and certification process.
