Exit Examination

Exam Structure

The exit examination is a comprehensive assessment conducted at the end of the fellowship (with an interim appraisal at one year):

  • Objective Theory Examination:
    • An online multiple-choice question (MCQ) paper covering the syllabus prepared by LTSI.
    • A question bank managed by a Panel of Examiners will ensure standardized assessment.
  • Clinical/Viva Examination:
    • A one-day clinical assessment conducted at a center chosen by LTSI, evaluating clinical knowledge, application, and research familiarity.
    • The viva voce is conducted by examiners from the Panel, including possibly one examiner from the host center.
  • Logbook Documentation:
    • An E-logbook, attested by the trainer, documenting all procedures performed/assisted, academic activities, presentations, and publications.

Examiner Selection

  • Criteria for Examiners:
    • LTSI members from high-volume centers with at least five years of experience in liver transplant surgery.
    • Examiners are rotated on a two-year cycle initially, transitioning to an annual rotation thereafter.
  • Re-Attempts:
    • Candidates are allowed a maximum of three re-attempts to pass the exit examination.
